Mr. Adam Blackburn — Consultant Plastic Surgeon

Training, Experience & Expertise

Mr. Adam Blackburn is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon fully accredited on the GMC's Specialist Register for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He undertook his plastic surgery training across the North East of England and at major London teaching hospitals, before completing advanced microsurgical fellowships at St Thomas' Hospital, London and the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.

Following training, Mr. Blackburn was appointed as a substantive NHS Consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead — a world-renowned specialist centre for plastic and reconstructive surgery — a post he held for 13 years. Over a distinguished NHS career, he built an internationally recognised subspecialist practice in breast surgery — both aesthetic and reconstructive. He has performed over 1,000 microsurgical free flap breast reconstructions, achieving a 100% flap success rate that places him among the leading practitioners in the world.

Alongside his reconstructive work, Mr. Blackburn has always maintained a broad aesthetic breast and body practice. He is sought after for breast augmentation, reduction and uplift procedures, asymmetry correction, abdominoplasty and body contouring — bringing the same precision and care to cosmetic surgery as to complex reconstruction.

Mr. Blackburn is a co-founder of Breast Group London, a multidisciplinary network advancing standards in breast surgery, and serves as a Patron of Restore, the charity supporting breast cancer reconstruction.

Now exclusively in private practice, Mr. Blackburn sees patients at the New Victoria Hospital in Kingston, Mount Alvernia in Guildford, the McIndoe Surgical Centre in East Grinstead, and the Benenden Hospital in Cranbrook — offering unhurried, personalised consultations and the highest standards of surgical care.

Approach to Patient Care

Mr. Blackburn believes that outstanding surgical results begin with listening — truly understanding each patient's goals, concerns and circumstances. This conviction is not simply a guiding principle: he published formally on the importance of listening to patients in aesthetic surgery, and that paper was awarded the Best Paper Prize in Aesthetic Surgery in 2008.

Patient-Centred Care

Every consultation is unhurried and personalised. Mr. Blackburn takes time to understand each patient's unique anatomy, goals and concerns before recommending any course of treatment.

Natural, Lasting Results

Whether for aesthetic or reconstructive purposes, Mr. Blackburn's surgical philosophy centres on achieving results that look and feel natural — balanced, proportionate and enduring over time.

Safety & Excellence

With a 100% flap success rate across over 1,000 reconstructive procedures, patient safety and surgical precision are at the heart of everything Mr. Blackburn does.

Compassionate Support

Mr. Blackburn and his team provide warm, supportive care throughout the surgical journey — from the initial consultation through to recovery and follow-up.
